How Liverpool could line up against Fulham

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Sunday's Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday looking for their first away Premier League victory since September 20.

The champions have been in typically imperious form at Anfield in recent times, but they have picked up just three of the last 12 points on offer away from home.

Despite that, they still sit joint-top of the Premier League table heading into the weekend and will be firm favourites against a Fulham side sitting just one place and one point above the relegation zone.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp could set his side out for the contest.

Out: Virgil van Dijk (knee), Joe Gomez (knee), Thiago Alcantara (knee), James Milner (hamstring), Xherdan Shaqiri (muscle)
Doubtful: Alisson Becker (hamstring), Kostas Tsimikas (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Diogo Jota (knock)

Liverpool could be boosted by the return of Alisson Becker in goal for this one, with Klopp confirming that the Brazilian is now back in training after missing the last three games with a hamstring problem.

Providing his return to training goes smoothly, he is expected to come straight back into the side in place of Caoimhin Kelleher, whose performances in the number one's absence have solidified his new status as back-up ahead of Adrian.

Liverpool could also have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in their matchday squad for the first time this season as he continues his recovery from a lengthy knee injury, although any role for him on Sunday is likely to come from the bench.

There are question marks hanging over the fitness of Diogo Jota after he picked up a knock in midweek, while Kostas Tsimikas also sustained a knee problem in the dead rubber against FC Midtjylland.

Jota's potential absence may change Klopp's plans regarding which players he could rest, with a top-of-the-table showdown against Tottenham Hotspur coming just three days after this match.

Mohamed Salah, who has only one goal in his last 12 games in London, appeared to be first in line to be rested after playing the full 90 minutes in midweek, but he could yet start if Jota fails his fitness test.

An alternative option could be to play fit-again Naby Keita in a more advanced position, but the fact that Salah did play the full match on Wednesday suggests that Klopp feels there is no urgent need to rest his top-scorer just yet.

There will be changes from the midweek trip to Denmark, though, with the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Curtis Jones, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Andrew Robertson and Joel Matip among those expected to come back into the starting lineup.

Trent Alexander-Arnold started in midweek and played the full 90 minutes but should be fine to retain his place for this one.

Thiago Alcantara, James Milner, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Xherdan Shaqiri all remain sidelined.
