How Liverpool could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers for Sunday's Premier League clash at Anfield.

Liverpool welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield in their final match of an unforgettable 2019 as they look to take another step towards what looks increasingly like an inevitable first league title in 30 years.

A dominant 4-0 win at closest challengers Leicester City on Boxing Day saw Jurgen Klopp's side move 13 points clear at the summit with a game in hand.

The Reds had Sunday's opponents to thank for that lead remaining intact as Wolves came from two goals down to beat Manchester City on Friday, and they will be looking to pull off an even bigger shock at Anfield.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for the contest.

Out: Joel Matip (knee), Dejan Lovren (thigh), Fabinho (ankle), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (ankle), Nathaniel Clyne (knee)
Doubtful: Jordan Henderson (shin)

Liverpool's only fresh injury concern after the win over Leicester hangs over captain Jordan Henderson, who was forced off early at the King Power Stadium having picked up a knock to his shin.

However, Klopp revealed after the match that Henderson insisted he would have been fine to continue and he is therefore expected to be in contention for this match.

The skipper may not be risked considering the quick turnaround in fixtures, though, while Naby Keita could also be rested having looked tired before being taken off against Leicester.

Options for rotation are more scarce in defence, where Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren remain absent, but the Boxing Day man of the match Trent Alexander-Arnold could be left out considering he is only one booking away from a ban heading into the final match before the threshold increases to 10.

Mohamed Salah's early withdrawal against Leicester suggests that he may start this match, while Roberto Firmino will also be keen to retain his spot having scored four goals in his last three outings across all competitions, but Sadio Mane could sit out.

Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi are among the players who will be hopeful of benefiting from any rotation, which could in turn lead to a familiar change in formation from the Reds.
