Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been handed an untimely concern over the fitness of Ibrahima Konate for Sunday's blockbuster Premier League battle with Manchester City at Anfield.
The Frenchman came off early in the second half of Thursday's 5-1 Europa League last-16 first-leg success over Sparta Prague with apparent hamstring tightness, and he will require further assessment ahead of the encounter.
Konate is one of two question marks for the hosts to contend with, as Jayden Danns suffered a concussion against Nottingham Forest last weekend, while eight players are guaranteed to be unavailable.
Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Alisson Becker (thigh), Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Curtis Jones (shin) and Ryan Gravenberch (ankle) will play no part in the fixture, but Klopp still went strong for the first leg with Sparta.
Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and two-goal hero Darwin Nunez all started in attack, but Gakpo is now primed to make way for Mohamed Salah, set for his first Liverpool start since New Year's Day after a pair of muscular injuries.
Dominik Szoboszlai - only just back from his own hamstring problem - should also demote Harvey Elliott down to the bench, as Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister reprise their midfield roles at Anfield.
A couple more alterations will come at the back, where Conor Bradley - scorer of an own goal on Thursday - and Virgil van Dijk will be reintroduced, with the former taking Jarell Quansah's spot.
Should Konate not pass his late fitness test, however, Joe Gomez will be given the nod to partner Van Dijk in front of Caoimhin Kelleher, who continues to earn plaudits in place of the stricken Alisson.
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Kelleher; Bradley, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz
