Liverpool are understood to want Adam Johnson on a season-long loan if they are to sell Daniel Agger to Manchester City.
The Premier League champions are believed to have had a £13m bid for the Danish defender rejected by Reds manager Brendan Rodgers.
However, the Merseysiders want around £23m and the temporary services of England winger Johnson in exchange for Agger, according to The Mirror.
Rodgers told reporters on Wednesday that "every player has his price" in reference to the possible sale of Agger.
