Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing Juventus centre-back Dean Huijsen, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Since joining Juventus from Malaga in 2021, Huijsen has spent the majority of his time playing for the club's Under-17, Under-19 and reserve sides.
In fact, the youngster has made just one single appearance for the first team, featuring as a substitute in a Serie A clash against AC Milan in October 2023.
Huijsen was ultimately allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window, spending the second half of the season on loan at Roma.
The 19-year-old made 14 competitive appearances for the Giallorossi, before he had to settle for being an unused subsitute for the final five league games of the season.
Bournemouth eyeing move for Huijsen
The Spain Under-21 international has now returned to Juventus, but it is widely expected that he will be sold this summer to raise funds for potential incomings.
Premier League giants Liverpool are believed to be showing an interest in Huijsen as they continue to scour the market for defensive reinforcements.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Bournemouth are also in the race to sign the Juventus centre-back this summer.
Bournemouth's director of football operations Tiago Pinto is hoping to recruit Huijsen for the second time this year after signing him for Roma during his final transfer window as the Italian club's sporting director.
The report also claims that Paris Saint-Germain are among his suitors, but they are currently focused on their pursuit to recruit Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg appear to be leading the Bundesliga's charge to win the race for Huijsen's signature.
Why do Bournemouth need a new defender?
While Huijsen is open to a Premier League move, it remains to be seen whether the Cherries will be willing to meet Juventus' asking price.
The Italian giants are believed to be looking for at least €25m (£21m) for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2028.
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola will be keen to recruit a new central defender following the departure of Lloyd Kelly.
The 25-year-old left the Cherries upon the expiry of his contract, before joining Newcastle United on a free transfer.
As it stands, Iraola's four main centre-back options are Ilya Zabarnyi, Marcos Senesi, Chris Mepham and James Hill. body check tags ::
