Liverpool have confirmed that Curtis Jones has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 21-year-old has been with the Reds since the age of nine, progressing through the various youth teams before making his first-team debut in 2018.

Jones has featured on 81 occasions for the Merseyside giants, contributing eight goals and 10 assists in the process, including seven appearances in all competitions this term.

The midfielder's previous deal with the club had been due to expire in June 2025, but Liverpool have announced that he has now penned a long-term agreement at Anfield.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the contract will run until June 2027, with Jones viewed as a 'key part of the present and future project'.

"First of all, I want to thank the coaching staff for having the belief in me as always, for giving me the chance," Jones told Liverpool's officials website. "And of course for me, I'm over the moon, I'm buzzing. It was an easy thing [to decide to renew].

"It's my boyhood club, I'm a Scouser, I've supported the club for the whole of my life, so yeah, I'm buzzing and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

"For everything, really. I think if I was at a different club as well, my goal and aim and dream would always be to come here and play. But I'm here now, I've been here since I was six, I've gone all the way through.

"I've supported the team for the whole of my life and especially now with how the team is and the coaching staff around me, I just feel that it's the perfect place for me and again, as I said, I can't wait to see what the future holds."

Meanwhile, Jones wrote on Twitter: "I'm made up to sign a new contract with my boyhood club. This means a lot to me! There is so much more I've got to show and that I want to achieve with Liverpool.

"Excited for what the future will bring. Thank you for your continued support!"

Jones has only featured on four occasions in the Premier League this season, missing a host of matches earlier this term through injury.

The Englishman also played in Liverpool's last two Champions League group-stage fixtures against Ajax and Napoli, which the Merseyside outfit won 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Jones has won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield and Club World Cup since becoming a part of the first team at Anfield.
