Manchester United are expected to move for a new left-back during this summer's transfer window due to concerns over Luke Shaw's injury problems.
Shaw was restricted to just 15 appearances for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign due to fitness issues, and the club are said to be worried about his time in the treatment room.
Tyrell Malacia, meanwhile, did not feature at all during the recent season due to a knee problem which has required two separate operations.
As a result, a new left-back is expected to be a priority for the 20-time English champions this summer, and with that in mind, Sports Mole identifies three players who could potentially join the club.
Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth)
Kerkez made the move to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar last summer, and he has represented the Cherries on 33 occasions in all competitions, including 28 outings in the Premier League.
The 20-year-old twice played against Man United in England's top flight last season, and it is believed that his performances caught the attention of the Red Devils.
Kerkez is allegedly being tracked by a number of clubs, and Bournemouth will seemingly find it difficult to keep hold of him on a long-term basis due to his potential.
The left-back is inexperienced, and it would be a risk to spend big on him this summer, but if a relatively small fee could be agreed with Bournemouth, then he could turn out to be a very smart signing by the club.
Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
Davies's future remains the subject of much speculation, with Bayern desperate to sign him to a new deal, and Real Madrid pushing to bring him to the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos are the huge favourites for the Canada international, and Man United's absence from next season's Champions League would make it a difficult deal, but it is not impossible.
Davies is the type of player that the club should be targeting as they bid to return to former glories, and it is difficult to rely on Shaw due to his injury problems, so the Canadian would likely be the number one left-back at Old Trafford if he were to arrive from Munich.
Chelsea and Manchester City are also being credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, who has scored 11 goals and registered 31 assists in 195 appearances for Bayern since his arrival in January 2019.
Marc Cucurella (Chelsea)
A recent report claimed that Man United were considering making a move for Cucurella this summer amid suggestions that Chelsea were open to a sale.
The 25-year-old was linked with a loan move to Old Trafford last summer due to Man United's injury problems at left-back, but he ultimately remained at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard featured on 26 occasions for the Blues during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring once and providing two assists in the process.
Cucurella has not been at his best for Chelsea, but it has not always been the best environment to perform, and he demonstrated his class during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Again, much will depend on price, as Man United have other priorities in the market, including a centre-back, central midfielder and striker, but a move for a player of Cucurella's age and ilk makes a lot of sense.
