Molde defender Vegard Forren has reportedly turned down the chance to go on trial with Liverpool in favour of signing for Southampton.
Speculation over the last 24 hours had suggested that the 24-year-old was prepared to go and prove his worth to the coaching staff at Anfield.
However, speaking to reporters today, Molde coach and former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that a move to Southampton is now the more likely outcome.
"There have been many enquiries from various English clubs, but Southampton submitted an offer, it was very interesting for us and Vegard," said Solskjaer.
"We are more or less agreed with the club but nothing is 100% confirmed. Molde are close to a deal, so we'll see if this is something that all the three parties will go on."
It is believed that the Saints will pay Molde £3.5m for the Norway international.
