Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reportedly identified Abel Hernandez as his main target for the January transfer window.
The Uruguayan international, who was linked with a move to Arsenal during the summer, is believed to want to leave Italian side Palermo in a bid to secure his place at the 2014 World Cup.
This has alerted the Reds, who could land the 23-year-old for around £4m, according to numerous reports.
It has been reported that Rodgers will ask Hernandez's fellow countryman and current Liverpool centre-forward Luis Suarez to help convince him that his future would be best served at Anfield.
Striker Hernandez joined his Serie A employers from Penarol in 2009.
