Liverpool reportedly continue to consider an approach for Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malan.
Although the versatile attacker is yet to replicate his form from his PSV Eindhoven days at Westfalenstadion, he has still made a sustained impact.
A total of 24 goals and 16 assists have come from his 91 appearances in all competitions, with four goals coming in this season's Bundesliga.
The Netherlands international has also regularly featured in Dortmund's Champions League fixtures, with the German side having already qualified for the last 16 with a game to spare despite being involved in a group with Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United and AC Milan.
However, his long-term future at Dortmund is currently up in the air to a certain degree, with his contract due to expire at the end of 2025-26.
Furthermore, Malen has just changed representatives, arguably a suggestion that he could be about to contemplate taking on a new challenge.
According to BILD, Liverpool remain interested in negotiating a deal for Malen in the future.
The report claims that manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 24-year-old's qualities and would like to add him to his squad.
Liverpool are already well stocked for options in the final third having added Dominik Szoboszlai to their ranks during the last transfer window.
Nevertheless, doubts over the long-term future of Mohamed Salah means that Klopp is having to consider potential alternatives to the Egypt international.
A decision will have to be made over Salah's future sooner rather than later with just over 19 months remaining on his contract at Anfield.
Regardless of whether Salah remains on Merseyside or not, a deal for Malen could theoretically still materialise, his new representatives the same agency that were involved in Cody Gakpo's transfer to Liverpool nearly 12 months ago.
If Dortmund were to cash in on Malen, they would expect to recoup at least the €30m that they shelled out on Malen in July 2021. body check tags ::
