Liverpool's struggles during the 2022-23 campaign will reportedly not harm their chances of signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham during this summer's transfer window.

The England international is widely expected to leave BVB this summer, and a host of the biggest clubs in world football are believed to be interested in his signature.

Manchester City and Real Madrid are thought to be the favourites for the midfielder alongside Liverpool, but the Reds have struggled for form during the current season.

Jurgen Klopp's side have already been eliminated from the FA Cup, while they are on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League due to their 5-2 home defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 tie.

Saturday's goalless draw with Crystal Palace, meanwhile, left the Merseyside giants in seven spot in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool's struggles this season would not put Bellingham off moving to Anfield during this summer's transfer window.

"I heard that Jude Bellingham is keeping a very close eye on what Liverpool are doing at the moment. I've been told nobody should think he's a player that wouldn't go to Liverpool because of the difficult situation they're in," Falk told CaughtOffside.

"It's the other way around - he's actually the kind of guy who would love to go to a club where he can change their fortunes.

"At Liverpool, he sees that the club is in need of him and that he can build something there, so that's why the side remains an interesting option for him.

"As you see in the Premier League, they're not massively far away from the Champions League places but it's important to note that Champions League qualification isn't a deal-breaker for Bellingham. Of course, it wouldn't hurt Liverpool's chances!"

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl recently said that the German club were determined to keep Bellingham at the club for "as long as possible".

"Of course we're trying to keep Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible," he told Ruhr Nachrichten.

"He's an incredibly important player who has shown once again this season how he identifies with this club and makes the team better.

"I would also like to still have Erling Braut Haaland or Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund. Because you can only imagine if we had managed to keep all three players in one team, what opportunities would then arise."

Bellingham, who has scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 30 appearances for Dortmund this season, could reportedly cost as much as €150m (£132m) during the summer market. body check tags ::
