Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed that the club failed in a bid to sign Fabio Borini.
The Italian forward, who joined Sunderland on loan from Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window, was a target for Lazio but Brendan Rodgers was unwilling to allow the player leave permanently.
"His name was under consideration, but Liverpool didn't want to sell him outright and they preferred to keep him in the Premiership," Lotito told Corriere dello Sport.
Lazio also failed with bids for Burak Yilmaz and Fabio Quagliarella.
