Real Madrid have offered Karim Benzema in a swap deal for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, according to a report.
The Egypt international has enjoyed a fruitful debut season at Anfield, netting a remarkable 40 goals and claiming 13 assists in just 45 appearances.
Benzema, meanwhile, has come in for criticism this term due to a goal return of just five in La Liga and a number of lukewarm performances on the pitch.
According to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Real are keen to part company with Benzema and trade him in as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Salah.
The report claims that Merengues president Florentino Perez wants to offload the France international, who in turn may reduce Liverpool's asking price for their star man.
However, the report goes on to acknowledge that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is not keen on the swap deal, despite Perez being persistent with his offer.
Both Real and Liverpool have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, taking on Bayern Munich and Roma respectively.
