West Ham United to move for Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips?

West Ham United reportedly identify Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips as a potential addition during the January transfer window.

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips has reportedly emerged as a potential January transfer target for West Ham United.

The 24-year-old starred as the Merseyside giants defeated AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night, an outing which represented his first start of the campaign.

Despite acknowledging his admiration of the player, Jurgen Klopp will give consideration to an exit for Phillips at the midway point of the campaign.

According to the Evening Standard, West Ham are ready to make an approach for Phillips as they look to replace the injured Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

Much could depend on whether Klopp regards West Ham as genuine rivals, the Hammers currently in fourth position but seven points adrift of Liverpool.

Phillips, who penned a new contract earlier this year, has previously been valued in the region of £15m.
