England striker Daniel Sturridge expresses his happiness with their World Cup preparation after they beat Peru 3-0 on Friday evening.

England striker Daniel Sturridge has said that the 3-0 win against Peru on Friday evening was ideal for their World Cup preparation.

The Liverpool striker opened the scoring with a curled effort from the edge of the box just after the half-hour mark, before Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka added second-half strikes.

Sturridge told Sky Sports News: "I was pleased [to score] but it's all part of the preparation. It's about the team, it's about the tactics that we're going to be playing in the future, it's about everybody gelling together, and it's all about the preparation as I say.

"We'll take the positives out but we move forward. I'm looking forward to the World Cup, being part of the squad, it's about the team, not about myself.

"[Playing in the World Cup] is the pinnacle of everyone's careers and I can't wait to get there."

England will now fly out to Miami for warm-up games against Ecuador and Honduras on June 7 and 10, before they leave for Brazil.
