Lorient have defeated Sochaux 2-0 at home to climb up to fourth in Ligue 1.
Alain Traore gave the home side the lead on the stroke of half-time, and Lamine Kone secured the points in the early minutes of the second period.
In a competitive first half, it was Sochaux who had the better chances, with Sloan Privat and Ishmael Yartey narrowly missing the target.
However, Lorient broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when Traore fired in from outside the box into the top-left corner.
Traore almost made it 2-0 moments later with another long-range effort, but this time he failed to keep it on target.
Lorient did not have to wait long to double their advantage at Stade du Moustoir, as Kone shot home from the centre of the Sochaux box.
The hosts dominated proceedings for the remainder of the match, with Jeremie Aliadiere, Benjamin Corgnet and Enzo Reale having chances.
