Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Luton Town and Stoke City, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Luton Town will host Stoke City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon with both sides looking to build on midweek victories with another three points.

The Hatters are unbeaten in their last six league games on home soil, while the Potters last tasted defeat at Kenilworth Road back in February 2000.

Match preview

Luton Town bounced back from their 2-0 defeat against Preston North End last weekend with a 3-1 victory at home against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

The hosts were trailing at half time after Josh Coburn put the visitors in front in the 15th minute, but strikes from Sonny Bradley, Elijah Adebayo and Harry Cornick ensured that the Hatters came away with all three points for the sixth time this season.

Nathan Jones's men have moved up to eighth in the Championship standings, just one point behind Saturday's opponents Stoke who currently occupy the final playoff position.

Luton head into this weekend's clash winless in 10 matches against the Potters across all competitions, including two defeats without scoring last season.

Their home form, however, is one positive they can take into this game, as they have only lost one of their last 12 league games at Kenilworth Road, keeping eight clean sheets in the process.

After a run of five games without a win across all competitions, Stoke were able to claim a slender 1-0 victory away against high-flying Blackpool on Wednesday night.

The game was goalless until the 79th minute when Harry Souttar's powerful volley at the far post hit the woodwork before fortunately deflecting off the chest of Steven Fletcher from just a few yards out.

That result has seen the Potters climb back into the playoffs on goal difference and a victory on Saturday for Michael O'Neill's men would consolidate their place in the top six heading into the international break.

Stoke should be confident of claiming all three points considering their impressive record away from home against Luton, after winning six of their last 10 games at Kenilworth Road, including a 2-0 triumph last season.

Team News

Luton midfielder Luke Berry is set to miss the rest of this month with a knee injury, but otherwise Jones will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

A similar side that played against Middlesbrough is set to be named again on Saturday, though the likes of Fred Onyedinma, Cameron Jerome and Glen Rea will all be pushing for a place in the first XI.

Striker Elijah Adebayo, who has scored seven goals in his last eight league games for the Hatters, is expected to lead the line in attack alongside Cornick.

As for Stoke, they will be without Nick Powell (leg), Morgan Fox (hamstring), Sam Clucas (thigh), Alfie Doughty (hip) and Abdallah Sima (groin), who are all ruled out with injuries.

Jacob Brown, who recently received his first international call-up for Scotland ahead of this month's World Cup qualifiers, is expected to keep his place in attack alongside either Fletcher, Sam Surridge or Tyrese Campbell.

Mario Vrancic came off the bench in the victory against Blackpool, but could be handed a start in midfield this weekend ahead of either Jordan Thompson or Romaine Sawyers.

Luton Town possible starting lineup:
Sluga; Burke, Bradley, Naismith; Bree, Lansbury, Mpanzu, Osho, Potts; Cornick, Adebayo

Stoke City possible starting lineup:
Bursik; Wilmot, Souttar, Batth; Smith, Vrancic, Allen, Thompson, Tymon; Brown, Fletcher

We say: Luton Town 1-1 Stoke City

Both sides head into this encounter off the back of impressive victories in midweek and will be keen to claim another three points on Saturday, as they aim to finish inside the top six before the international break.

However, with little to separate these two teams, a score draw could be on the cards at Kenilworth Road.
