Lorient edged closer to securing a top-10 finish in Ligue 1 after they beat Lyon in a game that saw three red cards.
Lyon's hopes of victory where dashed when Mouhamadou Dabo was given a straight red for his challenge on Bryan Pele when Les Merlus were in a strong attacking position.
However, the dismissal didn't nullify Lyon as an attacking threat with Bafetimbi Gomis going close to scoring twice in the opening 30 minutes.
The hosts resolve was broken early in the second half when a fast break out of defence saw Pele find Cheick Doukcoure and the midfielder slotted the ball into the bottom corner of Anthony Gomes's net.
OL did look threatening in attack and Alexandre Lacazette was agonisingly close to levelling for the home side, but in the end the plucky visitors were able to hold out for victory.
The game was marred by two sendings off in stoppage time as Lyon's Jordan Ferri and Kevin Monnet-Paquet dismissed for fighting.
