Steve King has been removed from his position as manager of Macclesfield Town.
The Silkmen's 3-1 defeat to Grimsby Town on Wednesday evening left them 12 points off the playoffs with just five games remaining.
That led to the Macclesfield hierarchy relieving King of his duties immediately after the match, with youth team boss John Askey being placed in temporary charge at Moss Rose.
The Cheshire-based club reached the fourth round of the FA Cup earlier in the season, before losing to Wigan Athletic.
