League Two bottom club Macclesfield have announced the departure of manager Mark Yates with immediate effect.
Yates took charge of the Silkmen in the summer but his side failed to win any of their opening 12 league games of the season.
In a statement the club said: “Despite a plethora of injuries to deal with, as well as an enormous amount of bad luck on occasions, (Yates) fought gallantly in a bid to lift our league position to where we all want it to be.
“We would like to thank Mark for his services to the club and wish him the very best of luck in his future career.”
Assistant managers Danny Whitaker and Neil Howarth have been put in charge of the team for Friday’s trip to Tranmere.
