Malta have secured just their second point in Euro 2016 qualifying after holding Azerbaijan to a 2-2 draw in their Group H clash in Ta'Qali.
The visitors opened the scoring on 36 minutes through Rahid Amirguliyev, who found space just outside the box and rifled a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner.
Malta pulled level five minutes before the hour, however, with Michael Mifsud latching on to Alfred Effiong's ball to smash a ferocious effort from outside the area straight into the top-right corner.
The provider of Malta's goal then got onto the scoresheet himself in the 71st minute as he bore down on goal before powering the ball into the top-left corner.
However Amirguliyev secured a point for Azerbaijan with just 10 minutes to go thanks to another long-range piledriver which sneaked past the opposition goalkeeper.
The result does little for the qualifying prospects of either side, as Malta remain bottom on two points, with Azerbaijan one place and four points ahead, but nine points off the top two with two games to go.
