Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon.

Manchester City will hope to avoid a calamitous collapse when they welcome Sporting Lisbon to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday night.

The Citizens stormed to a 5-0 victory in the first leg on the Portuguese champions' turf and already have one foot firmly in the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition.

Pep Guardiola also oversaw a 4-1 victory over Manchester United in Sunday's Premier League derby, which has opened up a six-point lead for the holders at the summit.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man City's injury and suspension news ahead of the second leg.

Ruben Dias

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Ruben Dias picked up a hamstring injury against Peterborough United in the FA Cup earlier this month and has been ruled out for four to six weeks.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: Unknown

Nathan Ake was also absent from the Manchester derby due to a knock that he picked up in the FA Cup, and the Dutch defender is not expected back in time for Wednesday.

Zack Steffen

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: March 9 (vs. Sporting)

Zack Steffen is thought to have a strong chance of coming back from his back problem in time to make the squad on Wednesday, but it would still be surprising to see him start the contest.

Cole Palmer

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: March 14 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Cole Palmer is closing in on a return from a troublesome foot injury, and while he will not be available here, Guardiola is confident that the teenager will return to training at some point this week.

Joao Cancelo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: Unknown

Guardiola revealed at his pre-match press conference that Joao Cancelo would miss out on Wednesday due to illness, and it remains to be seen when the Portuguese will return.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Benjamin Mendy

Possible return date: Unknown

Subject to a police charge, left-back Benjamin Mendy remains suspended by the Citizens.

Kyle Walker

Possible return date: March 14 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Kyle Walker was sent off in Man City's final group game against RB Leipzig and is serving the second of a three-game European ban this week.
