Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has praised his team for 'showing character' after a late Kevin De Bruyne goal gave his side a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Champions League this evening.
The Europa League holders had led the game through Yevhen Konoplyanka's goal on the half-hour mark, only for Wilfried Bony to level the tie six minutes later.
However, with the Spanish side just minutes away from holding on for a draw, De Bruyne struck to secure all three points for Pellegrini's men.
"It was a very close game the two teams played very well and made no mistakes. We had character to the end and got the goal," Pellegrini told BBC Sport.
"We needed to make some changes, we were not arriving in the box and we had no strikers on the bench but it was the way to free Yaya Toure."
The result leaves Manchester City on course for the quarter-finals, with seven points from their opening three games in Group D.
