Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful that captain Vincent Kompany will be fit in time for their crucial Champions League clash with Roma.
The 28-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's 3-0 win at Southampton, and yesterday Pellegrini ruled him out of trips to Sunderland and Everton.
City travel to Rome on Wednesday knowing that they must win their final Group E encounter to progress into the last 16, and the Chilean hopes that his skipper will be fit in time.
"Vincent is improving and maybe it is not such a serious injury as we thought at the beginning - but he needs to see the whole week and we will see what happens with him," he told reporters.
The Sky Blues beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in their penultimate group-stage game to reinvigorate their hopes of reaching the next phase.
