Half-Time Report: No goals at Wembley

Manchester City and Wigan Athletic play out a 0-0 draw during the opening 45 minutes of the FA Cup final.

Neither Manchester City nor Wigan Athletic were able to find the net during the opening 45 minutes of this year's FA Cup final at Wembley.

Both sides created opportunities, but a combination of positive goalkeeping and wayward finishing has meant that the score remain 0-0 at the break.

Roberto Mancini's City began the brighter of the two teams, but it was Wigan who created the first meaningful effort on goal. Callum McManaman gained possession inside the area and having cut back onto his left foot, he attempted to curl a shot beyond Joe Hart. There wasn't enough bend on the strike, though, and the ball went wide.

It took the 2011 winners a while to create anything of note, but when they did in the 30th minute, only a save from Joel Robles in the Wigan goal denied them. David Silva pulled the ball back for Tevez, who looked as though he was going to put City in front. However, Robles spread his body and diverted the ball over the crossbar with his foot.

With their very next attack, Wigan and McManaman had another chance to break the deadlock. The winger beat the offside trap, but after he had rounded Hart, the angle narrowed and his effort was blocked by the retreating defence.

As the half drew to a close, a chance opened up for City midfielder Gareth Barry, but his curled effort from 10 yards out was held at the second attempt by Robles.
