Riyad Mahrez will be in contention to feature for Manchester City, when they welcome Burnley to the Etihad Stadium for their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.
The 30-year-old was an unused substitute in City's 2-2 draw away against Liverpool earlier this month, but after an impressive spell on international duty with Algeria, the winger will be hoping he can force his way back into Pep Guardiola's starting lineup.
As captain, Mahrez scored three goals and provided an assist to help Algeria secure comfortable 6-1 and 4-0 victories over Niger in World Cup Qualifying. The left-footed wizard has now recorded a combined total of 60 goals and assists in just 67 appearances for his country.
Mahrez also has an impressive record against Burnley and ahead of gameweek eight, Sports Mole takes a look at how Mahrez has fared against the Clarets in recent years.
Mahrez has faced Burnley 13 times across all competitions, featuring in six games for Leicester City before making seven appearances against the Clarets for Man City.
For the Foxes, the winger was on the winning side on three occasions, as well as drawing once and losing twice; his only two defeats against Sean Dyche's side came in a Leicester shirt.
Mahrez scored his first ever Premier League goal against Burnley, netting an uncharacteristic header at the far post in a 2-2 draw back in 2014-15. The Algerian provided an assist in the same game for Jeffery Schlupp, but he only managed to register one more attacking return in his next four appearances for Leicester against Burnley.
After leaving the King Power Stadium for the Etihad in 2018, Mahrez has seen his form improve against the Clarets, scoring seven goals in five matches under Guardiola, including a hat-trick in this fixture last season.
Mahrez has scored more Premier League goals against Burnley than he has against any other team in the competition, finding the net eight times in total.
Heading into Saturday's game, the winger has scored six goals for City in his three Premier League home matches against Dyche's men, with the hosts cruising to 5-0 victories on each occasion.
Mahrez also provided an assist in last season's victory against Burnley in the FA Cup fourth round, which Guardiola's side also won by a 5-0 scoreline.
The 30-year-old has never been benched for a home encounter against the Clarets, so the Algerian will hoping he can make his mark once again for the Citizens this weekend.
