Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has indicated that he could be closing in on a return from injury.

The Spain international played 33 of Man City's 38 Premier League games last season, helping his side secure consecutive league titles.

Despite playing a prominent role last season, Laporte is yet to feature this term after undergoing surgery on a knee injury in the summer.

However, Laporte has indicated that he is nearing a return after posting on Twitter a picture of him taking part in training.

The 28-year-old is set to strengthen Pep Guardiola's defensive options with the City boss utilising the likes of Ruben Dias, John Stones and summer signing Manuel Akanji in central defence this season.

Laporte, who has won 11 trophies with Man City, has made over 155 appearances for the club, chipping in with 12 goals and three assists. body check tags ::
