Willy Caballero accepts that he is currently second choice at Manchester City, but is determined to put pressure on Joe Hart.
The 32-year-old, who joined from Malaga this summer, started in the 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, but Hart has been the preferred option in the Premier League.
"I knew what the situation was before I came here but I think that I made the decision because I was joining a big club and one that was able to win trophies," Caballero told the Sunday Telegraph. "I also took the decision because I think that when you are inside a big team if you train well and you do well in games then you can play.
"I hope that Joe Hart will continue to do great because that will be good for the team. But I will be ready and I will try to give the manager all the confidence back.
"I accept my position but also on a daily basis I train hard because we are competing and we want the manager to question himself as to who will be the number one"
Manchester City, whose manager Manuel Pellegrini worked with Caballero at Malaga, return to Premier League action with a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Saturday.
