New Manchester City signing Nicolas Otamendi has said that he is ready to fight for a spot in the club's starting XI following his transfer from Valencia.
The 27-year-old centre-back is looking forward to the battle for starting places with Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala and fellow Argentine Martin Demichelis.
"Today I am at an age where I have to keep learning new things, but I feel I am in one of the best moments of my career, at the top of my game," Otamendi told the club's official website.
"Kompany is one of the best central defenders in the world, Demichelis is here because he's a great player, Mangala... they are players that every team in the world would like to have and they are here.
"It will be healthy competition to be in the starting XI. But that's a beautiful thing in football, you compete healthily with your own teammates."
Manuel Pellegrini's side face Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League this weekend.
