Bernardo Silva has expressed a desire to see former AS Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappe join him at Manchester City.

The 22-year-old midfielder moved to the Etihad Stadium for £43m in May, shortly after helping the Monegasque side win the Ligue 1 title.

Mbappe, meanwhile, is currently the subject of a transfer saga linking him with some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Silva told Sky Sports News: "Mbappe is a great player. I would love to have him here. That is for City to decide, but you never know.

"Mbappe can be a superstar. In fact, I think he is already a little bit of a superstar. He can be one of the best in the world very soon.

"It is perfect to have someone like him when you're a midfield player because he is very fast, very clever and a good finisher. It's crazy to think he is only 18."

Mbappe himself is said to have indicated his wishes to leave last season's Champions League semi-finalists.
