Former Manchester City striker Mike Summerbee has heaped praise upon current manager Manuel Pellegrini for the job he has done since taking over at the club in the summer.
Pellegrini has guided City to second in the Premier League table after 20 games, while also seeing them progress into the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in their history and reach the semi-finals of the League Cup.
However, despite all the silverware still on offer for his side, Summerbee already believes that Pellegrini is a success due to the style of football he has introduced at the club.
"It is always important to win your first trophy at a football club, but it's the way we are playing which is the most important thing for us at the moment I think - the way he has got the squad together, and the attacking football we are playing. For me, that is what it is all about," Summerbee told PA.
"I think he has done a fantastic job. I think his man-management has been brilliant. And the football the fans are watching is fantastic - people are in awe of what they are seeing, because the football is that good.
"You are seeing world-class players playing, they are playing attacking football and that is what people want to see - it is what draws the crowds to the stadium."
City will look to put one foot in the League Cup final when they face out-of-form West Ham United in the first leg of their semi-final on Wednesday.
