Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has admitted that the club could receive a bid for Kevin de Bruyne in the coming days.
De Bruyne, 24, has been a long-term target for Premier League side Manchester City this summer, but it is understood that the German club are yet to receive a formal offer for the player's services.
"We do not want to sell him, but it is possible that there will be an offer in the next days," said Allofs, according to Sky Sports News.
"But all the same, we want to keep him in our squad. We want to build a strong team and Kevin is supposed to be a big part of it.
"Anything can happen in football. We are a club which has multiple preconditions in line to convince him to stay."
The former Chelsea midfielder was the Bundesliga's leading player in terms of assists last season.
