Manchester City are reportedly planning to swoop for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes as the Spaniard's proposed move to Monaco hangs in the balance.
The Spain international verbally agreed to join the French outfit as a free agent in the summer, but is said to have missed the deadline to sign a pre-contract agreement with the club.
City are hoping to take advantage of the deal stalling by signing Valdes from under Monaco's nose, according to the Daily Star.
Angered by the player's failure to meet the deadline, Monaco are believed to have turned their attention to Hannover stopper Ron-Robert Zieler as a potential alternative to Valdes.
