Turkish giants Fenerbahce have rubbished suggestions that they are to hijack Manchester City's move for Dani Alves, insisting that they have "no interest" in the free agent.
The Citizens are the strong favourites to sign the Brazil international following his exit from Juventus, which was confirmed in an Instagram post last week.
Fenerbahce were said to be preparing a last-ditch approach to lure Alves to the Super Lig, but the club have released a statement to distance themselves from the ex-Barcelona full-back.
"There is news in some of the newspapers today that our club are interested in Dani Alves," the statement read. "There is no interest from our club with the player. We advise fans that this lie is an unfounded report."
Alves is expected to finalise his switch to Man City in the next week, having made no secret of his desire to link up with former boss Pep Guardiola once again.
