Ruben Dias 'set for bumper new deal at Manchester City'

Manchester City are in talks with central defender Ruben Dias over a new and improved contract, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly in discussions with Ruben Dias over a new and improved contract.

The Portugal international signed a six-year deal with the Citizens upon his arrival from Benfica last summer, and he made 50 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side during an impressive 2020-21 campaign.

The defender was named the Premier League Player of the Season last term, while he also picked up the FWA Footballer of the Year award due to his performances.

According to The Sun, Man City are keen to improve the £90,000-a-week deal that the 24-year-old signed last year and are currently in talks with him over a pay rise.

The report claims that the Citizens want the proposed new agreement to run until June 2027, with the central defender seen as a key part of the club's future.

Dias, who represented his country at this summer's European Championship, could allegedly be in line to move close to the £250,000-a-week deal that John Stones signed earlier this month.

Man City will be looking to bounce back from their opening-weekend defeat to Tottenham Hotspur when they continue their Premier League campaign at home to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon. body check tags ::
