Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott has revealed his disbelief at France overlooking his teammates Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy for their World Cup squad.
Neither of the title-winning pair were included in Didier Deschamps's 23-man party for the tournament in Brazil this summer when it was announced on Tuesday.
They have 61 international caps between them, but Deschamps could not find room for either Clichy or Nasri, who created as many chances as anybody else in the Premier League during the 2013-2014 season, a decision that has left Lescott "baffled".
Lescott, who is expected to leave City when his contract expires next month, tweeted: "How Gael or @SamNasri19 haven't made the @FFF WC squad is beyond me and the rest of the @MCFC squad #Baffling #TheirLoss."
Nasri's girlfriend, Anara Atanes, has also been critical of the decision in a Twitter rant on Deschamps.
