Manchester United lead Real Sociedad 1-0 at half time in their Champions League Group A encounter at Old Trafford.
It was a nightmare start for the Spanish side, who fell behind in just the second minute when Inigo Martinez sliced the ball into his own net when trying to clear his lines.
The ball had come back off the post after Wayne Rooney beat Claudio Bravo with a side-footed effort.
Martinez was at the centre of attention once again five minutes later when he tangled with Javier Hernandez over inside the box, but the referee waved away the Mexican's protests.
Bravo made a smart save to deny Rooney in the 14th minute, although the unmarked England international should have done better from Rafael's cross.
United briefly thought that they had doubled the lead when Hernandez nodded in Ryan Giggs's cross, only for the linesman to correctly rule the striker offside.
David de Gea was called into action by Haris Seferovic on the half-hour mark, before Antoine Griezmann rattled the crossbar with a free kick just before the break.
