Aad de Mos: 'Manchester United have defensive weakness'

Ex-PSV Eindhoven coach Aad de Mos claims that his old side will target Manchester United duo Chris Smalling and Daley Blind when the teams meet in the Champions League.

Former PSV Eindhoven coach Aad de Mos has claimed that his old side will target Manchester United pair Chris Smalling and Daley Blind when the sides meet in the Champions League.

Louis van Gaal's side travel to the Netherlands to face Eredivisie champions PSV in their opening match of the group stage this evening, and De Mos has suggested that PSV will find success if they put pressure on the United backline.

"Smalling is regarded as a great defender, but he isn't the best on the ball," De Mos told Omroep Brabrant.

"PSV have worked it out, they are going to let Smalling have the ball all the time. They know he is limited in his ideas.

"And if Daley Blind thinks he can come and enjoy a bit of freedom, or dominate the game again, then he will soon realise all the PSV players are going to be after him. They will not leave him alone."

The clash with PSV will be United's first Champions League match since the 2013-14 season.
