Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged his teammates to "finish the job" of qualifying for the latter stages of the Champions League by beating Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
The Red Devils face Sami Hyypia's men at the BayArena this week knowing that victory would ensure their progression from Group A ahead of Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk.
David Moyes's men lie seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal, with Cardiff City snatching a 2-2 draw with the reigning champions through Kim Bo-Kyung's last-gasp goal.
However, Ferdinand believes that United's domestic campaign will be aided by securing their place in the knockout stages of Europe's elite competition on Wednesday.
"We want to finish the job, get it done early so we can get back to the Premier League and have nothing else distracting us," he said to Sky Sports News.
"They're a well-equipped team and it's not going to be easy but we're more than capable."
United face Tottenham Hotspur next weekend upon returning from Germany.
