Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Ryan Giggs will make his 1000th appearance against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The Welsh winger was expected to reach the milestone during today's 4-0 win over Norwich City, but Ferguson opted not to name the 39-year-old in the squad.
Ferguson has now said that Giggs will play some part in Tuesday's Champions League last-16 clash with the reigning Spanish champions, and believes that the Welshman should act as an example to all young players.
"Ryan Giggs will be involved against Real Madrid, no doubt about it. It's a great moment, a great example for all young players to reach 1,000 games as a professional," said Ferguson.
United and Madrid are currently locked at 1-1 following the first leg in Madrid last month.
