Ander Herrera has told his Manchester United teammates to mark their Champions League return with a bang by doing everything they can to win the competition.
Herrera and hat-trick hero Wayne Rooney starred as the Red Devils thumped Club Brugge 4-0 on Wednesday to register a 7-1 aggregate victory and end their brief European exile by reaching the group stages.
There, Louis van Gaal's side will meet PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg, and Herrera urges them to produce a campaign befitting of the three-time European champions' history.
"It's too early," he told reporters when asked if they could challenge. "We have to go step by step, but of course, we are representing one of the biggest clubs in the world.
"The history of the club says we have to fight for all the trophies, but we have to be prudent. Hopefully we can take Manchester United where they deserve to be."
United went all the way in 1968, 1999 and 2008, and twice lost to Barcelona in the final in 2009 and 2011. It will be their first Champions League adventure since the 2013-14 campaign.
