Roy Keane has claimed that Manchester United's Champions League defeat to Olympiacos is another example of English clubs falling behind their European rivals.
United slipped to a 2-0 loss in Greece in the first leg of their last-16 tie to become the third Premier League side to lose in the competition in the past week.
"I think we've been brainwashed by the [idea that] the Premier League is the best league in the world. Nonsense," Keane, who won the Champions League with United in 1999, told ITV.
"It's the best brand, but we've seen over the last few weeks with a lot of the English teams struggling that these teams have fallen behind the top teams in Europe, and United in particular."
Chelsea can end the poor run for English clubs when they face Galatasaray on Wednesday.
