Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has defended his decision to substitute Anthony Martial during his side's 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
Boos rang out around Old Trafford as the Frenchman made way for Marouane Fellaini, but the Red Devils boss insists that the fans went home satisfied.
"I am not deaf. That's the opinion of the fans but afterwards they shall not be disappointed with the decision of the manager," he told reporters.
United won the match courtesy of a late header from Wayne Rooney.
"Wayne is Wayne. He always contributes in a game and I am very happy because I put him in the striking position and he scored," Van Gaal added.
"I am very happy about the performance and the result and the fact that we are top of the group."
The result lifts United to the top of Group B, one point clear of PSV Eindhoven and Wolfsburg.
