Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw has undergone surgery on his double leg break.
The full-back suffered the double fracture during United's 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday evening, following a challenge from PSV defender Hector Moreno.
It had been suggested that Shaw would undergo surgery today, but United have revealed that the procedure took place after last night's match.
"Luke underwent surgery on his injury on Tuesday night and will remain in hospital in Eindhoven to continue his early recovery," United said in a statement.
"Manchester United are grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support. A further update will be provided in due course."
It has been reported that England international Shaw could be out of action for up to six months.
