Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar has revealed that Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku told him "it will be okay" after the teenager's howler cost his team in Wednesday's Champions League clash in Lisbon.
Svilar became the youngest goalkeeper in the history of the Champions League when the 18-year-old took to the field for the Group A clash against United.
The stopper bizarrely carried a Marcus Rashford free kick over the line for the only goal of the match in the second period, and he had to be consoled at the final whistle.
Lukaku was one of the United players that approached Svilar after the final whistle, and the goalkeeper has revealed that the Belgian international offered words of encouragement.
"Yeah, it was nice. He just said that I don't have to worry, continue to work and it will be okay," the Manchester Evening News quotes Svilar as saying.
Benfica have now lost all three of their Champions League group matches this season.
