Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has lambasted PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno for his tackle on Luke Shaw in their Champions League clash at the Philips Stadium, which the Dutch side won 2-1.
The Mexican's challenge on the 21-year-old England international in Tuesday night's game forced the latter to be stretchered off the pitch while being administered oxygen.
Man Utd later confirmed that Shaw had suffered a double fracture of the right leg and will be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines once he has undergone surgery.
Van Gaal told reporters after the game: "It is awful. The boy is in his second season and he has been playing fantastic. And now this happens.
"He had the oxygen mask on and was crying in the dressing room. You must judge for yourself. If I say it was a penalty and a red card then I am a bad loser. It was a very bad tackle."
Shaw joined Man Utd from Southampton in 2014.
