Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to first-team training at Manchester United and is in contention for Thursday's Europa League match at Old Trafford against Sheriff Tiraspol.

The 37-year-old refused to come on as a substitute in the 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday and was dropped for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea as a result.

The Portuguese attacker walked down the tunnel in the 89th minute in the "heat of the moment" and was subsequently demoted to training with the Under-21s, according to reports.

Ronaldo took to Instagram to take responsibility for his actions but stopped short of an apology to the club and his manager.

However, it appears that he has smoothed things over with manager Erik Ten Hag at the moment after his reintegration into the first-team set up.

The five time Ballon d'Or winner has started all four of United's Europa League games this season despite starting just two Premier League matches.
