Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has laid into his players following their 2-1 defeat at Fenerbahce, describing them as "not ready" for the Europa League clash.
Goals from Moussa Sow and Jeremain Lens put the hosts in control and, despite Wayne Rooney giving his side hope with an 89th-minute strike, Dick Advocaat's charges held on for victory.
Mourinho told reporters after the game: "Our problems started in our global attitude. They were playing the Champions League final, we were playing a summer friendly.
"They deserved to win, football is not just about quality, it is also about effort, commitments, playing the limits and giving everything.
"A team that concedes after two minutes is a team that is not ready, not mentally prepared, not focused, not concentrated."
United are still winless away from home in Europe since November 2013, while in all competitions they have now won just two of their last seven games.
