Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand has said that Rasmus Hojlund will make his return from injury in Manchester United's FA Cup quarter-final with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old has been absent for the Red Devils since the middle of February, missing his team's last four matches in all competitions due to a muscular problem.
However, Man United boss Erik ten Hag said ahead of last weekend's Premier League clash with Everton that the forward was in line to return against Liverpool.
Hjulmand has named Hojlund in his squad for Denmark's international friendlies with Switzerland and Faroe Islands on March 23 and March 26 respectively, and he has claimed that the forward will be involved in the FA Cup contest with Liverpool.
"Rasmus will play on Sunday against Liverpool and must go through the match well. That's what we expect. We are in contact with United. I have talked to Erik and we expect it to happen," journalist Nicolaj Ronstrup quotes Hjulmand as saying.
Hojlund had been in excellent form for Man United before picking up an injury, scoring seven times and registering two assists in his last six Premier League appearances.
The forward has also netted once in the FA Cup this season, scoring in his team's 4-2 success over Newport County in the fourth round of the competition.
Hojlund has scored 13 goals and registered two assists in 30 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2023-24 campaign.
Man United have won two and lost two of their four matches in Hojlund's absence, overcoming Nottingham Forest and Everton, and losing to Fulham and Manchester City.
The Red Devils are also expected to be boosted by the returns of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire for the FA Cup fixture with Liverpool this weekend.
However, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial remain unavailable for selection.
Mason Mount is now back in training after a lengthy absence, but he is unlikely to be considered until after the March international break.
Man United will also need to make a check on the fitness of Omari Forson, with the attacker ruled out of the contest against Everton last weekend due to an unspecified issue.
The 20-time English champions have only been victorious in one of their last six matches in all competitions against Liverpool, and the two teams played out a goalless draw at Anfield in the league in December. body check tags ::
