Louis van Gaal is expected to hand Victor Valdes his Manchester United debut during Friday evening's FA Cup tie at Cambridge United.
The 33-year-old has not featured since March 26 last year when he damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee while he kept goal for Barcelona against Celta Vigo.
The six-time La Liga winner left Barca in the summer and he spent the end of 2014 training with Van Gaal's United squad, before signing an 18-month contract earlier this month.
He has since been on the bench for Premier League matches with Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, but with David de Gea likely to be rested for the trip to the Abbey Stadium, Valdes will make his United bow, according to numerous reports.
De Gea, who is said to be a target of Real Madrid, has featured in all 24 of United's matches this term.
